2020 Season Update

Dear KLL Families,

We hope you are all well and have figured out creative ways to get through this unusual time. Opening Day has come and gone and ironically enough, it was beautiful. As the weather gets warmer, we all wish our kids could be on the fields and running the bases.

The KLL board met virtually on Saturday morning. We were hoping that by now we would have received updated guidance from LLI or our state, but we have not. At this time, our schools are closed, our parks are closed, most of our state is closed and some sports have begun to cancel their seasons. We are all just doing the best we can.

I think we are all aware that the spring season as we know it, will not happen in the way that we had all hoped. We are NOT going to use the word cancelled, because we remain ready and able to begin a baseball season as soon as it is safe to do so. We are in communication with our neighboring leagues and the district regarding the possibilities of baseball this year. We have been asked by LLI to hang in there as they come up with a plan. We know that if our communities open up, there WILL be baseball, there WILL be other leagues to play, we WILL be ready at any time the environment allows and we will do our best to make it a meaningful season. As an example, we could have a summer program and a fall program or a combination of these seasons. We have options and we are not giving up on it until we are directed to do so by our governing bodies.

We also know however, that many of our families have circumstances that don’t allow for a change in season dates. Some of our families have lost jobs or own businesses that cannot operate during our stay-at-home order. If you are a family that needs to opt out at this time, please do not hesitate to email us for a refund. If you are unable to participate this year, but would like us to hold your funds for next spring, we can do that. If your family wishes to remain in the program, but your financial situation does not allow for it, please specify that as well. Our main focus has been and always will be, allowing any child who wants to play baseball, a chance to do that. We understand and we are here to help.

To all of you, for hanging in there with us, we thank you. Please continue to take care of your families, check on your neighbors, be well and we hope to see you on the ballfield soon.
